Instruction Permit

30 hours of Classroom Training

This theory class will prepare each student to pass the State of Arizona permit exam, as well as prepare them to accept the responsibility of operating a motor vehicle safely in the State of Arizona.

Subjects covered will include but not limited to:

  • Rules of the Road
  • Physical Conditions
  • Laws of Nature
  • Buying a Vehicle
  • Insuring a Vehicle
  • Drugs, Substance Abuse, and Road Rage.

Upon successful completion of the 30-hour class with a grade of 80% or greater, Universal Driving School, LLC will issue a Training Completion Certificate, which can be presented with an application for a learner permit at the Motor Vehicle Services Center or any Authorized Third Party Driver License Provider with the understanding that they might be randomly selected to take the exam.

Traffic Survival School

Traffic Survival School is licensed by the AZ National Safety Council / ADOT MVD traffic survival school. You must attend an AZ traffic survival school if you received a Traffic Survival School order, Corrective Action letter, or Proof of Assignment mandating you to complete a traffic survival school class. If you are unsure about needing an AZ Traffic Survival School class, please call MVD Customer Service at (602) 255-0072.

Required to attend TSS if you have:

  • A DUI
  • Run a red/flashing light
  • Are convicted of reckless or aggressive driving
  • Are convicted of a moving violation or accident involving death or serious injure
  • Are younger than 18 years old and convicted of any moving violations
